You don't need to email me to tell me you were late or will be missing a class.
If you miss class or are late, check with me or other classmates for information that you may have missed.
Also check this website for the particular week, and I will try to post any pertinent information.
If you want to make up the class time (but not to make up quizzes or turn in worksheets on time), check myzou for BIO1500 and look at all the different sections. Show up to another class and see if the TA has room for an extra student. You can also email that TA and CC me in the email and ask for permission ahead of time. That way you can know what the class did, and answer the worksheet questions. If you miss a quiz, you cannot make that up.
TIP: In class I will go over things that I will cover in quizzes, but if you go to an other section, they might cover different topics. Check our class outline for a specific lab, and use that as a guideline for studying for the quizzes. Also, talk to other classmates about what was missed.
After the second week of class, each absence after the first will count towards -5 for that week's lab worksheet. So your first absence is free. If you know you will be absent but you attend another section, let me know which section it was and I won't count it as an absence.
If you are absent due to things completely beyond your control and you weren't able to go to another class, then you can still do the worksheet and turn it in and get a grade (including any penalties for not being in class). You won't be able to get the information from the in-lab class period, but you can use your photo atlas, lab text, or classmates to help you complete the worksheet. Any extra points you are penalized (late, absent, etc.) will still apply. You get two dropped worksheets and quizzes for the semester, so if you don't do well, you can drop these grades.
Worksheets:
Late worksheets can be turned in late, with a 4 point penalty per day.
Anything due can be turned in via email, also. Scan your homework and email it to me, or take a picture, or give it to another classmate to turn in, or put it in my box at the 1st floor of Tucker.
If you put it in my box (1st floor Tucker or 2nd floor Stewart), email me and tell me that it's in the box, and in order for it not to be late, I will have to pick it up before class starts to avoid any late penalties (so this method might be a little tricky).
